Mixed Media Haiku Poetry: A Dance of Two Arts

Welcome to a world of blended mixed media haiku poetry - a dance of words and images abstract.

Has anyone ever asked you what a piece of art was about? What did it say? Especially if the art was an abstract. Maybe you wondered what someone else's piece was about? In the beginning I have felt a need to explain my own abstract works. I used them to guide me to scripture. I let the passage help define it. Then I created pieces even more abstract and had to step back, realizing I didn't know where to go with these. One day it was suggested to sit with these pieces and see what I could "imaginatively" see. That day I realized haiku was a perfect form to help me find the story.

As I delve into the universe of mixed media haiku poetry, I'm continuously inspired by the infinite possibilities that emerge from the blending of materials and emotions. To me, this art form represents a tapestry of textured narratives — layers of paper, ink, textiles, and sometimes photographs that come together to create a visual symphony. It's a language of intuition, where each piece is a conversation with mood, memory, and the indescribable.

When I pair this form of visual poetry with the sparseness and depth of haiku, something magical happens. Haiku, in its brevity, captures the essence of a singular, profound moment. This resonance is what drew me to create a mixed media haiku poetry collection, allowing the weight of each wordless story to be enriched by the haiku's evocative cadence. Each piece stands as a quiet monument to personal reflection and universal truth.

The process of crafting these art pieces is profoundly rooted in intuition. It begins with a lingering sense, an emotional echo that begs to be layered upon a blank canvas. "Intuitive art" in my practice means embracing this echo, allowing the materials to gently guide my hand and narrative. From the torn edge of a paper to the unexpected color stroke, a story emerges organically, breathing life into themes of transformation, memory, joy, and loss. Each element of collage finds harmony with a haiku, a dance of language and image.

Wander in the World of Mixed Media Haiku Poetry

With this invitation to explore both the seen and the felt, you are encouraged to let the textures speak and the haiku surprise. Each masterpiece in this gallery is a window to a different world, whether you choose to lose yourself in a single piece or wander gently through a collection. May each work offer you a revelation, a quiet wonder, or a bittersweet reflection that resonates deeply within your own narrative.

As you engage with the artworks, take a moment to breathe in the emotional undercurrents. There's an intuitive tone woven into every piece, a silent promise that neither art nor poetry are bound by the tangibility of life but are alive with possibility.

Mixed media haiku poetry is not merely an artistic endeavor; it's an expedition into self-discovery and shared experience. Join me as we navigate this dual-layered universe, where each brushstroke and syllable speaks to the sacred stillness of existence, inviting a state of mindfulness and inner peace. Let this be a space where you find a piece of your own heart articulated in the art before you.

In our busy world, this intersection of art forms encourages us to slow down. Here, we’re invited to feel deeply, to imagine widely, and to reflect quietly on the unspoken stories that fill this moment. Within the gallery’s quiet corners, the timeless conversation between art and poetry continues.

A Journey of Story Through the Landscape of Mixed Media Haiku Poetry

My journey into this unique fusion began one evening with a simple yet profound bedtime story on Spotify. A woman visiting a museum found herself unraveling layers of meaning within a single painting, her insights weaving a narrative only she could see. Inspired, I realized how powerful it can be to engage with art in this way — to look closer, not only with our eyes but with our souls.

Although my art style leans toward abstraction, this practice of storytelling through haiku allows for an imaginative exploration beyond the obvious. Each haiku, intentionally chosen, acts as a guide — a glimpse into the deeper meanings residing within the textures and hues of each mixed media piece.

For those drawn to the avant-garde, who cherish the unexpected and the profound, this gallery offers a haven for discovery. It serves as a meeting ground where abstract art lovers and haiku enthusiasts can linger, converse, and find fresh perspectives shining through the shared space.

Throughout my artistic journey, I've circled back to certain themes — the bittersweet reflection of loss and change, the quiet wonder of discovering grace in simplicity. These sentiments saturate my work, ensuring that each piece and haiku carries both an emotional weight and lightness.

Immerse yourself in this transformative experience. Notice how the juxtaposition of materials mirrors the layers of your own story, how each haiku is a subtle altar to moments we've experienced but may have overlooked, celebrating the impermanence and beauty of life's overlooked pauses.

I extend to you the gift of this haiku collage series, filled with visual poetry that does more than simply fill the space—it fills the heart. It invites you into a dialogue, A pondering that transcends words, exploring a realm where silence and expression coexist.

In the heart of these abstract pieces lie memories and emotions captured in moments. They structure an unseen architecture made visible through ink and textiles, guiding us toward something larger than ourselves, yet intimately personal.

Feel free to explore this symbiotic dance between art and poetry with an open mind and heart. Look closely, linger where the light captures your imagination, and allow the whispers of haiku to guide your understanding of each piece’s hidden narrative.

Mixed media haiku poetry becomes a vessel—a kaleidoscope through which art lovers, poets, and dreamers can find a common ground, echoing the shared human experience. As this gallery welcomes you, may it inspire your own stories and offer an opening to new beginnings.

Wellspring

Wellspring

Light spills down the slope,

fields sway under busy feet --

the day open wide.

Smoke curls from the roofs,

home fires tucked in breathing hills,

life made, flame by flame.

Engines thread the land,

iron beasts on gravel veins,

the earth never still.

Mist-born. she looks on,

ghost on steed above it all --

what end will they find?

Beneath all the noise,

a hidden well keeps singing --

what was, still flowing.

Description:

In Wellspring, modern motion meets ancestral memory.  Fields ripple under labor and light, while the hum of machines threads the land.  Smoke, roots, and iron speak of both creation and disruption.  Above it all, a ghostly figure  -- part witness, part guardian -- watches from horseback, remembering what came before.  Beneath the surface noise, an old well continues to sing.  This piece reflects on progress, inheritance, and the unseen sources that still nourish our becoming.

City on a Hill

City on a Hill

Ladders pierce the sky --

whispers rising from the hills,

a call to ascend.

Hidden in shadows,

a city waits on the wind --

faith like distant rain.

Glory in the east,

a light no storm can darken -

watchman keep the flame.

Description:

A vision of hope and resilience, City on a Hill draws from sacred imagery to reflect a place of refuge, calling, and clarity.  Ladders stretch skyward, shadows cradle mystery, and a light in the east anchors the spirit.  Each haiku ascends like a psalm, quietly rising toward the divine.  This piece invites the viewer to watch, wait, and believe in the enduring strength of light.

GlassBottleShop

In the Shop of Lost Faces

Dust settles on glass -sunlight sifts through cluttered shelves, memories uncorked.

Glass curves into breath--

a masked face sleeps in profile,

watching without eyes.

Whispers in the light --

old bottles hum in silence,

time sealed in their curves.

Description:

An intuitive exploration of memory, stillness, and the silent presence of the past.  What begins as a still life transforms into a subtle portrait, as a hidden face emerges from the form of a glass bottle.  Shadows, texture, and softened edges evoke the feeling of a long-forgotten shop where objects hold their own stories, waiting to be heard.
