Sharon’s work most often takes an abstract form.   The world of mixed-media collage and other forms of mixed-media work very well in that manner, although it can be used to create more realistic artworks.  Her artwork also draws from the spiritual and/or religious palette of life.  Like many artists who see personal meaning in their work, she understands that the same piece may communicate something entirely different to another viewer.

The French verb echafauder means “to construct on or build up, layer upon layer.”  This is mixed-media art in its expression.  One of Sharon’s favorite mediums to work in is encaustic wax.  Her favorite paintbrush has often been the embossing gun.

Sharon came to recognize her artistic calling long after graduating from high school and college. For many years, art was simply a hobby for her, pursued without any particular direction. That changed when she began to see it as one of her spiritual gifts. In Christian teaching, every believer receives at least one spiritual gift upon being born again, although such gifts may reveal themselves at different stages of life. Sharon came to understand her gift as craftsmanship, a calling illustrated in the book of Exodus through the story of Bezalel.

Sharon likes to record her dreams.  It's another way she tries to discern the direction of her life.  One night she had a dream in which she was told: "You are a Creative."  This was one of a few ways it was confirmation she had found her calling.
